MGM Mirage

After MGM Grand Detroit invested more than $850 million in their largest casino outside of the Las Vegas strip, federal legislation was introduced that would have allowed tribal casinos to bypass all state and federal laws to place two additional casinos in neighboring communities, ultimately threatening the job creation and revenue generated by MGM. The legislation was championed by the most powerful member of Congress and employed nineteen lobbying firms to pass.

Compass took lead on the following

Serving as liaison between MGM and four Washington firms

A series of town hall meetings to educate the community about the project

Coordinating local media and public outreach efforts to oppose the legislation

Working in Washington, DC to secure critical votes from the Congressional Black Caucus

The end result was a victory margin of 177 votes.
